Combat Weapon Runes
These runes are inscribed onto the close combat weapons of an entire unit.
Runes of Woe (3pts per model)
Potent runes embodying the terrible time of woe. Weapons marked with this rune will strike at an enemyʼs weakest points, and fill their bearer with a killing rage.Only affects single hand weapons. Bearers gain the Killing Blow ability.
Runes of Cleaving (3pts per model)
Weapons bearing this rune hit with greater force, and have an unnaturally keen edge. Only affects single hand weapons. Bearers add +1 to their Strength.
Wards of Grimnir (2pts per model)
Though not a rune in the traditional sense, these wards may be painted upon weapons, clothes, or the body, and when properly applied and blessed will protect the bearer from harm. Slayer unit only. All models bearing these wards gain a 6+ Ward Save. In addition, the unit (and any characters within it) gain Magic Resistance (1).
May be taken once by any number of Slayer units and characters (consult character entries for costs).
Runes of Striking (2pts per model)
Though already skilled warriors, Dwarfs wielding weapons bearing this rune will parry blows and strike their enemies with greater speed.Bearers add +1 to their Weapon Skill.
Runes of Swiftness (1pts per model)
Weapons bearing this rune appear to act with a will of their own, striking faster than the eye can see to exploit a weakness or parry a blow. Counteracts an enemyʼs ability to always strike first, resolve combat in initiative order as normal. Does not affect attacks that occur before the normal combat order, such as impact hits, plague censers etc.
Runes of Flight (1pts per model)
A simplified version of the Master Rune, combined with properly balanced axes, allows them to be thrown and return to their bearer to also be used in combat. Only affects single hand weapons. Bearers are treated as being armed with throwing axes.
Runes of Fire (1pts per model)
While the Rune of Fire itself is relatively easy to inscribe upon an item, more difficult are the additional measures that need to be taken to prevent the bearer from setting himself, or his fellows, alight.Attacks count as Flaming (but notmagical).
Runes of Warding (1pts per model)
Curiously when a lesser Rune of Warding is placed on the blade of an axe or the head of a hammer, it serves to help to disperse magical creatures that are struck. Attacks count as magical
Armour Runes
These runes are inscribed onto the armour of an entire unit.
Steelguard Runes (2pts per model)
A combination of several runes, and specialist training allows a unit to form an effective shield-wall when charged, shrugging off even the most terrible of blows. If a unit bearing these runes begins a combat by being charged from the front, then for the first phase of that combat they will ignore all armour save modifiers, and may re-roll failed armour saves.
Runes of Shielding (2pts per model)
These runes provide a powerful magical shield against ranged attacks.Treat the bearers as having +1 Toughness against ranged attacks, including magical ranged attacks, and spells defined as magic missiles.
Runes of Preservation (2pts per model)
Wight blades and poison have presented a problem for many Dwarfs, often circumventing even the finest armour. Bearers are immune to the Killing Blow and Poisoned Attack rules, treat all such attacks as though they did not possess either of these abilities.
Runes of Stone (2pts per model)
The Rune of Stone is a favourite among Dwarf armorers, instantly reinforcing even the sturdiest armour, and shielding gaps that would otherwise be exposed.Bearers add +1 to their armour save to a maximum of 1+.
Runes of Resistance (1pts per model)
Though not as potent as the more finely wrought permanent runes, these runes add a protective layer to armour that makes it harder to pierce.Reduces modifiers to the bearers Armour Save by 1. For example, an enemy save modifier of -3 would become -2 instead. This does not affect Armour Piercing attacks
